Target UK traffic via SEO

Hi,

I wonder is there anyway to focus UK traffic only via using SEO method. I have couple of few blogs, but I realised that about 50% of my traffics are from outside UK. Is there anyway to target UK traffics only? My domain TLD are all UK, such as .co.uk and .org.uk

Generally, majority of traffic for uk-domains should come from UK SE's (Google.co.uk, Yahoo.co.uk etc.) by deafult. But if you want more UK traffic, you should build UK-specific backlinks, e.g. adding "UK" to your major keywords and/or using key phrases that describe exclusively UK products/services.

Here is my opinion beside on other people tips.
You can use GEO TAGGING, as you know in onpage SEO factor there is

TITLE TAG
DESCRIPTION TAG
KEYWORD TAG

And now you can add more with GEO TAG, use UK GEO koordinat, so Your site or blog will show in that geographics are, in your case UK area.

Meta Geo Tag :

<META NAME=”geo.placename” CONTENT=”Place Name“>
<META NAME=”geo.region” CONTENT=”Country Subdivision Code“>

Just Example :

You need to promote your site on Google UK search engine. I mean to say you need to search some UK related relevant sites for link exchange, find some UK related directories and submit your site there. Most importantly search social bookmarking sites those getting daily high UK traffic.

 

Yep, go with Geo Tagging, or your could do a more specific Geo-Targetting, it means that you need to submit on directories found on UK only, Forums, and classifieds by doing this your directly creating a traffic and only targetting UK alone...

 

Change your site GEO location to UK in Google webmaster tool.

If your domain has a .co.uk extension it will automatically be targetted to the UK in Google Webmasters.

 

Thanks guys, it is very useful advice. I have some queries what regards to the above GEO TAG.

1) Which Uk geo.position latitude and longitude should I use? Is it make much different? Let said if I choose london position, does other part of UK will be showed? Because I am targetting the whole UK.

2) For geo.placename, can I put more than one place? Let say, all the major UK cities and towns.

Do google recognise those metatags? I can't see any evidence that they do

They won't do any harm...but I can't see that they'll do any good either.

As others have said - the tld is the main clue that google will take as to your location, after that, backlinks from UK sites.

 

It really helps if you use a .co.uk hosting your site on UK located servers, make sure its not just UK prices from the provider but UK located servers.

I know thats not SEO but its already a huge part towards helping you rank.

Submit to UK web directories, make sure they are hosted on UK servers again.

 

My current situation I have is that my domains are hosted in US (bluehost.com) and Germany (Servage.net). I am not sure whether it do any harm or not. But definitely I will try to submit to UK directories. Thanks
