    Hi DP members,

I have a question related to keywords that i have to target.

I have a shop with nearly a 100 different products from same niche, but different names and categories. Shall i target general niche keywords and stick with specific products keywords?

    Kind regards
    Kal

    Hi Kal,

I would suggest that you stick to the general niche keywords if they are not highly competitive.

Thanks, for now i am also sticking for general keywords, a bit competitive, successful in Yahoo, but nothing in Google.

    Regards
    Kal

Sorry but the above advice is not very helpful. They give no reason to target general niche keywords. In most cases the general keywords have the lowest conversion rates. Those general keywords can often overlap different niches which means some of those people may not even be looking for your specific products.

On the other hand, the very specific keywords convert much better. Those people already know exactly what they are looking for and may be ready to purchase. The specific keywords are often easier to get rankings for.

At the start of any seo campaign I personally would go after the best converting phrases first. I would leave the higher traffic/high competition keywords until the website already has some links built up.
