Yahoo gives Microsoft the boot and new ad deal expected to be announced today with Google... Source: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25123412/
Well in the first part of this "saga" Jerry Yang said that they didn't really turn Microsoft down as implied by some. They (Microsoft) just pulled out their offer at the slightest hint of skepticism in Yahoo's side. It was Microsoft's aggressive nature and the "take it or leave it" attitude that Yahoo didn't appreciate or so Jerry Yang says. But then again Yang looks like he's confused. I pity the man.
Yahoo didn't boot Microsoft, they simply can't come to an agreement. But with Microsoft gone, they lost a bargaining chip when negotiating with Google. Also there is always the risk of anti trust when Google and Yahoo do something together given their combined share of the Internet search market
Yahoo's yang made a serious mistake here, plus the google deal isnt going to be as big as they made it out to be. I can just see those shareholder lawsuits coming. Yahoo was lucky to get a 33 dollar per share offer.
Did Yahoo announced this new deal with Google yet? It was supposed to be after the stock exchange closed, but I have not heard anything...
Yeap both the news of the breakdown in talks with Microsoft and the agreement with Google. http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080612/yahoo_microsoft.html http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080612/yahoo_google.html
This is one of the worst case scenarios for Microsoft, and it probably isn't very smart for Yahoo to do in the long run. How is feeding off of Google's success going to have any positive impact on Yahoo? Unless they take the extra income, and improve their technology, Yahoo will go nowhere fast. Yahoo's management is now holding on to a dying company. I'm convinced Yahoo is run by a bunch of idiots. There is always talk about Value Click being bought out...maybe Microsoft will switch gears to them?
Yahoo has lost my loyalty…. I hope Google rapes Yahoo and then Google will have a true competitor, MSN. If Yang isn’t on top of the food-chain whoever is should save the company and fire the man. He is obviously depressed and cannot handle the job, making the most stupid decisions ever. I don’t know why Microsoft is having a hard time enhancing their search engine because with their budget it can easily be done. They could be on the same technological level as Google’s search engine with only the employment of 10 guys or less speaking of a minimum for such a company. Maybe they should allow the consumers to chip-in, I mean, it works all the time universally ultimately they’ll have to impress the users of the internet, why not employ a campaign to collect our interests and suggestions. It is not them rejecting the deal but how it was handled and how immature Yahoo! handled it. There was no need for them to get Google involved, in-fact it was a huge mess up. Why did Yahoo! involved the leading establishment of the industry they’re trying to conquer but actually only Yahoo! Company did that. The only loser is Yahoo! inevitably. If MSN is committed to enhancing their technology they WILL, Google is just FINE, Yahoo! has now smeared its own company as the hobo establishment, they will never lead in that field – depending on their competitors, but after all, they did born from Google. The only real competition to “Google†is Microsoft. This were to be a corporate dialog between Microsoft and Yahoo! but the better man won..... Google. I oppose praise of corporatism.... but Google is just too clever.
Competition is what drives the price of almost any product down. Any of these companies devouring the other means we (the consumer) will eventually lose in the end. Less choice and bigger market share for corporations= higher profits and less product development. People underestimate how much LiveSearch sucks. That's the real reason behind Wild Bill's attempt at hi-jacking Yahoo. Why build a better product when you can bully a better performing competitor into giving you theirs? I hope Jerry Yang puts his foot squarely in Bill's ass and has sense enough to strike some sort of deal with the Linux people to help rid us of the omni-present scourge that is Microsoft. If everyone who wants to see Microsoft take over Yahoo had their way, we would all be staring at the crappy MSN home page every time we logged into our computers with our metered broadband connections brought to us by Time-Warner. No thanks. If it comes to that I'll just have to get a library card and take a giant leap backward in the progression of the human race.
