A few days ago I was reading about a new PayPal scam, which is a usual threat, but I'm facing a problem with a scammer that I want to share with you.

In April 25 my credit card was charged for $10 coming from "HOSTING SERVICES GROTEL" which I didn't noticed until May 15 when a new charge was made for the same concept, and today a new charge appears dated May 25, same company, same concept.

I have never heard about "Hosting Services Groetel"
and I am not paying monthly hosting to no one because all my hosting services are already paid for a full year.

Even though, the dates make it illogical, April 25, May 15, May 25...

should I expect another no-sense charge on June 15?
Which hosting service could charge that way?

I did a reasearch and I have no found any clue about that supposed service

the questions are, someone has heard about them?
and more important, how can I stop that abuse

Any feedback will be much appreciated

You maybe signed up for some service without really realising it. There was / is a thread somewhere on DP where someone complains bitterly about paying a subscription to some outfit they had never heard of but it turned out they had signed up for a free trial of a service to get a big discount but never actually cancelled the free trial before it became a subscription service.

No, that is why I'm really concerned because I have not tried any service on a trial basis lately.

I did try to signup a new hosting deal a few weeks ago but using paypal. However I never completed the order because a mismatch in the offer, $5 on the frontpage and $9 in the order form.

However PayPal was not charged then or after :O

The only thing left to do then, if you have no idea what the charge is for, is to contact your CC company and ask them to investigate.

I did a little bit of looking and the closest I could find was that there is a city in the Netherlands named Grotel, and a JFL-Hosting in the Netherlands that shows up with "Grotel" in some of their listings at Google.

I'm afraid I can't help much more on that site because I can't read the language. :/

Not sure if this will help you any or not. Good luck in finding the culprit and solving the mystery - and particularly in hopefully getting your money back if you can.

Change your paypal password asap, this can happen sometimes, also change your email pass, otherwise the person can just hit reset pass and go into your hotmail.
This dosn't sound like a scam, just old fashioned hacks.

Ah! I'm going to change passwords and also report the issue to the Credit Company.

The search made by Phantascene make me wonder in one of my resellers account, hosted on a server in The Netherlands.

However this provider is Amsterdam but the website is in English, and I have the account since November paying with PayPal.

Maybe someone related to the company has hacked my information so I better go to PayPal to change my passwords right now.

ps, cross your fingers so I can get my money back :O

Get rid of the Guest Book. They are spam magnets. Seriously.
