'Taking Over' A Website?

    Hi there,
I've been asked to redesign a website and I've never done this before (only ever created them from scratch) so I was wondering how to go about it? I've been given the email address of whoever made it, they were some media company. What do I ask for? FTP details? Or do I just start afresh and get them to transfer the domain name?

While we're at it, could I get some criticism on the website, the URL is http://theexilesband.com/

I know what's wrong with the code, I'm just a bit stuck because I think the website looks good but the guy doesn't!

    Thanks.

Well, are you just designing it, or coding it, or both?

Designing: Nothing, just create the design, send the image and ask for any changes they want, keep sending edited image until they are satisfied, then give them the .psd

Coding: You could start all over, or you could request for the site's files and edit them.

Both: obviously do both of the above.

So I should email the creator and ask for a RAR of the site files? Or would that be his property (copyright)?

If I host the new site myself, how do I sort out the domain stuff?
