If your Web site appears on the first page of Google search results, you will get traffic.

But making changes after your Web site is up and running is less effective than planning your Web site to be "Google friendly" from the beginning.

Google drives 65 to 85 percent of traffic to Web sites in North America and Europe. Your Web site will be almost invisible unless Google indexes your Web site and displays your page on the first page of its search results.

Because Microsoft and Yahoo follow in Google's footsteps, the adjustments you make to your Web site will work in most cases for other Web-indexing services.
