Take Back the Media To All Ron Paul Supporters And Our Friends In The Grassroots This is the beginning, ladies and gentlemen. The beginning of the end for the stranglehold of the mainstream media. The beginning of the end for the masters in high places. The beginning of the end for the media blackout of the values and philosophies expressed by Ron Paul and other political candidates that share his views. The beginning of the time when we take our country back. It starts right here, at BreakTheMatrix.com. We are forming a grassroots organization and movement that will carry the words and values of freedom off the Internet and out to those millions of Americans who only receive their news and entertainment from mainstream radio and television. As Dr. Paul himself said so well on February 9, 2008: “The neocons, the warmongers, the socialists, the advocates of inflation will be hearing much from you and me.†Indeed. The tired, empty mantras of “right and left,†of “conservative and liberal,†of “Democrat and Republican,†will no longer stand unchallenged in our mainstream media outlets. Freedom, prosperity, peace, hope—the great ideas are coming to America. http://www.BreakTheMatrix.com The rEVOLution has Began...
I'm keeping an eye on this. The two guys behind it are pretty capable. One is Trevor Lyman, the guy who pushed the two big money bombs, and was 1/2 of the blimp project. The other guy is Rick Williams, a very smart lawyer, and capable economist.
somebody's gotta get a shitload of dimes I think it's a great idea. I'm not crazy about the name they chose though - doesn't seem serious enough. And they are going to need to raise serious cash if they plan to move into broadcast radio and television (even if it's just cable).
BreakTheMatrix is not the name of the company. Because it is based on the same for-profit model as the Blimp, I think a stock offering could do quite well. They may not establish a channel, but they might be able to provide content to other channels.
So their initials will be BM? As in.. Bowel Movement? lol... Basic Media is definitely an improvement over Break The Matrix though.
I think I like the name. Anyway, as all you Ron Paul supporters I am sure will agree, the free market will determine the success or failure of this organization.
I bookmarked them. Although, does anyone else see the the irony? The starting of this company is a reaction to biased media like FOX. So they are creating another biased media, but with the views they want America to be biased towards. Here is what they want Americans to support: Not to say those are bad values, but how are they any different from FOX? What ever happened to unbiased media? It doesn't exist anymore, everyone has an agenda.
I agree, we shouldn't be advocates of any time of biased propaganda. I've been urging the creation of a new type of media and have seen some interesting possibilities. I haven't looked into this all yet, but I will shortly. I think what we need, is to revolutionize media. The internet was a good start, we need to innovate now. We need to create a system where the average joe can submit a story, and based on some measure of credibility, be ranked by spectators of some sort. Creating independent journalists and letting viewers decide what is best to report on. Just an idea, but we need something where the people have control.
OK. I just registered a sweet .com domain for something along these lines. Now I just need to flesh out the details...
I'm working on a revolution 2.0 project as well. Just too much commercial work happening to get a lot done with it quickly.
There is probably someone here much more knowledgeable on this, but IIRC under Reagan, media outlets got a lot more leeway to show bias, because some regulation that required that opposing points of view be shown was removed or killed. We live in an age of advocacy. If you don't hire a lobbyist, you aren't going to get political traction. If you don't start a non-profit organization, you can't (under McCain-Feingold) organize a grassroots. Thus someone has to create alternative TV to get the alternative news out. Because under the concept of private property, none of us have a claim on what Fox (or anyone else) reports, and thus we have to take personal responsibility to report on the things that matter to us. The stuff that matters to people, will be heard. That which does not, will not. Right now the MSM has a monopoly, they don't necessarily tell people about what they want to or need to know, instead, they control most of the programming, and you are told what they want you to know, from the perspective they want you to have about it.
This is not a bias, this is called freedom: End our overseas empire; and bring the troops home. End the Federal Reserve; break the debt money culture and the stranglehold of our bankers. Limit our central government to its proper Constitutional framework; end the income tax (and so much more). Dismantle the police state; and free the American people.
Their entire mission and reason for being is creating propaganda that will make Americans believe what they believe. You really cannot get anymore biased than that. If you agree with the values or not, it is still propaganda. It also annoys me because it is under the pretense that they are fighting biased media. Do you remember the Palestinian-Israel thread where we were discussing the site that was biased towards Palestine? So at the point you realize it is biased, then you have to go check sources everywhere. But then when you go check sources you have to judge if site is credible. Is it something on blogspot, is it on a pr7 site? Even that won't even say for sure, FOX news probably has good PR. I also think mainstream media in America is biased towards Israel. It is just so hard to find a news source that is not trying to make you have a certain opinion. After awhile your not sure who is telling the truth. In this day and age why is it so hard to find info that is reliable, credible, without bias and just providing the facts. That is one reason I like DP politics section. Almost every post is extremely biased, but you get viewpoints from all sides at least. Then if it is really important to you, you can study it further and come up with your own conclusion. I still wish though that I could find a completely unbiased news source, if anyone knows of one please post it here.
Rebecca I see your point. I think pretty much all news sources swing one way or the other. A media source which is biased in the best interests of the constitution and freedom I can swallow, however.
Before the internet gained popularity, it was considered unethical and unprofessional to create a biased news story. I think it was Mia that explained why it changed, but I can't remember what he said. It was something about tv news having a hard time competing, so they had to become biased to make money. Before that they just wanted facts, uncolored by personal bias. I would love to go back to that. Is public opinion being bought and sold?
