I am launching my portfolio, and I want some opinion on it. Please avoid using harsh words! Thanks. The link is in my signature.
The design isn't bad but some of the positioning and sizing is a bit odd. The top is wider than the rest of the page. It seems the partial bracket on the top-right is at fault. Also some cell padding could be useful to separate your main content from your right column. How I see it in Firefix and my notes:
Here is a view as I see it in IE6. As you can see, the top part is wider than the rest. and your email link is being cut off at the bottom.
I was editing it when you viewed it. I realized that it was a little too cramped so I fixed it. How does it look?
The big changing jpeg created some space beteen the main column and the right column.... but the other problems still exist. Also those large changing jpegs are around 200KB a piece, making for a 600KB download. That would take minutes to download on a 56k connection and could use up a lot of your servers bandwidth. They look very nice and give the site a professional touch but maybe some more compression is in order, or creating the image swap in Flash.
I noticed you recompressed them down to 25-30K that should work good. The nav buttons in Firefox 2 drift off to the right. In IE6 the top part is still wider than the main content area. Firefox 2: IE6: Once that is addressed, I think you'll have it dialed in pretty nicely.
