Take a Look a my CSS and valid XHTML site redesign

Discussion in 'Websites' started by mortgage-pro-seo, Dec 5, 2004.

I have recoded my mortgage refinance site with valid xhtml and css. Designing with-out tables can be a challenge but the design is much more accessible and easier to update.

By controlling typography and presentation with CSS, I was able to cut the site bloat by 50%. The site was 4 megs (about 200 pages) and is now right at 2 megs.

Any feedback or optimization tips would be greatly welcomed.

We also offer quality link exchanges in our link exchange directory.

    It looks good.
CSS design is a must (IMO).

You wouldn't program a site in an old, out of date language - you shouldn't design a site with old technology either.

Well done for not being lazy and taking the time to build your site properly. :)

SEO wise, It looks fine to me.

I haven't had a long look, but what I've seen looks fine.

    Good job. :)

Did you design it all yourself or did you get help?

    What are your skill sets?

    Hello Anthony,

I designed the site by my lonesome. I read a couple books on xhtml and css. I also did the logo myself. I learned much during the process. Next I am learning php, mysql and apache.

    Good luck!

I got a lot of books too, but do not have a sharp enough mind to learn programming, you must have ate your spinach when you were a kid.

    What Is XHTML?

    • XHTML stands for EXtensible HyperText Markup Language
    • XHTML is aimed to replace HTML
    • XHTML is almost identical to HTML 4.01
    • XHTML is a stricter and cleaner version of HTML
    • XHTML is HTML defined as an XML application

XHTML Is The Official W3C Standard

XHTML 1.0 became an official W3C Recommendation January 26, 2000.
A W3C Recommendation means that the specification is stable, that it has been reviewed by the W3C membership, and that the specification is now a Web standard.
W3C defines XHTML as the latest version of HTML. XHTML will gradually replace HTML.
