I was wondering how intensely people associate tagging with their posts. Do you have like 10+ tags per post or do you really keep it low? Thanks.
I don't know that there is a good rule of thumb for the number you should have, but I'm quite sure stuffing the tags (putting a ton in there) that aren't relevant, is a bad thing.
well to the OP's question - usually got 5-6 words that I think is relevant and USUALLY comes straight from the content itself
Usnig the wordpress tag generator would be a good option , it generates good and relevant tags automatically.
Since I don't use a tag cloud, I use quite a few tags per post. I do this for a) user navigation and b) SEO ranking. Tags are a great way to introduce some keywords. I like to use around 5 - 15 tags per post and I just have them displayed underneath the post but I don't have a tag cloud otherwise it would be all clogged up with a HUGE amount of tags. If you use a tag cloud 1 - 3 tags per post max would be suitable.
I think you should not add more than two tags per topic because when people click on tags they should not see the same content again and again. better use only one tag per topic.
ahh, didn't know there was one, a plug in I take it? are there advantages disadvantages to using a tag cloud? when would you want to?
