Hi,i have a 3 months old PR2 website which was getting a pretty decent traffic from search engines(almost 80-85%)till a few week back when i decided to optimize my Tags(not title tags, the tags which will be displayed in your tag cloud ).According to the information i have find on one of the so called SEO websites i have removed all my existing tags(there was around 1100) and added a new standard set(created a tag plan for it) and updated the blog posts with the new tags. Now the situation is

1.I have a nice looking tag cloud.
2.Have crawl errors with in Google webmaster (all 404 errors) for all the 900-1100 tags.
3.My search traffic is still(80-85%) of the overall traffic but with a catch. Before the 'Tag optimization' i was getting around 100-150 people a day.Now that has become 10-15!

    Now the question is

1.Did i done something wrong by trying to optimize the tags?
2.Am i going to get my traffic back in the near future? Is there a way i can sort this out?

    Please advise
    Thank you!

You have removed ~all tags and this leads to all tag pages are not reachable (404) and affected SERP considerably. Sometimes tags come up in SERP. I am not sure whether it will work not not but you may try to insert same tags if you remember some. Tough work though!

    Hi Guys,
Thank you for replying!I don't think i have been hit by Panda. This problem started showing up only a week or so back, immediately after i had more than 1000 Not Found(404) errors with in my website cos of the Tag cleaning i have done. Now as wordpecker told,i believe i have only one option in front of me,putting the tags back!
thank god!fortunately i have kept a back up list.I will try this out and post here the results soon.

Just inserting tags may not work! Try to add those tag pages( links) to Google webmasters and i guess they will work once again. Please do post here what change you have observed. I am very keen to know. Thanks

If you are looking to increase your PR then you don't want the link juice spreading to links that take it away from your site. To prevent this from happening you should add the Nofollow attribute to your link.
