I posted a link to a service called "tag a cloud" on this blog... your suppose to receive perks as your "level" grows on the cloud. You can see this service in action at the blog.. lately I've begun to think it might not be legit, so I've to run this little test and see how "real" there system is. If it is real and working 100% like it should it's a cool idea. I'll update this forum daily with the results of this test. The Blog
what are you talking about? You purchased an ad spot on this site for the 178,795th Tag Cloud site on the web and now you are trying to push it as though it's your blog? The owner's of the blog are a couple and their spelling is far superior to yours...so it is quite obvious that the blog does not belong to you. No need for an update...this thread, and all that follow, should be closed.
I think you completely misunderstood ominc. No where in his post did he say it was his blog, in fact, he clearly states that he bought the ad from the couple who owns the blog. And their spelling is not far superior, his spelling is really not that bad at all. So, I'm assuming you just don't like him, you're in a really bad mood or you're just a dick. Either way your reply was uncalled for. Before you humiliate yourself any further in public forums, you should really make sure you understand what is being said.
Its not that I don't like him...I am just calling out a post that is completely spam. But since you are unable to discern between fact and fiction, I'll break down his post for you: He says "I posted a link to a service". He never mentions that he purchased a link from a couple....so I don't see where you got that from. By using the word "posted", we can only assume he is the owner of the blog. This is typically known as promotion...you're really naive if you think otherwise. So you're saying that he purchased advertising for his own company and is now questioning its legitimacy? So now he's running a test to see how "real" his own system is? LOL. Notice how he doesn't take ownership for the cloud site with the above quote and the last one. So if he doesn't own the cloud site, which site does he own? What he is doing is trying to get users, like yourself, to go onto his tag cloud site and test it out....because it is a cool idea. Why is he updating the readers on this forum about a test he is doing on his own site? Clearly, there isn't one example where he takes credit for owning the tag cloud site...so that leaves only one other site ...and that's the blog. I am usually a nice guy but I am getting really sick of seeing self promotion on a site that should be used to help other webmasters. Could I have approached the situation a little differently, sure. You mentioned that he "clearly states that he purchased advertising from a couple". Where?
OK, maybe he didn't say he purchased it. But, that's how I took it. He has 62 posts, so I didn't look at it as spam. Most spammers have 1-5 posts. I'm confused. Do you think it is or is not his blog? He posted 2 links to chrisvschris.com and has one in his signature. It seems like you are trying to say it's not his site...why would he be linking to it then? You're saying he is just spamming a site that he is trying to claim as his? What would be the purpose of this? But then you say Sorry, I'm completely lost now. I mean, it's not a big deal. I don't really care to be honest. But, I'm kind of curious as to whether you are interpreting it to be him spamming his own site, or him spamming a site he wants us to think is his. Some of the things you've posted contradict themselves a little.
First off, the "Christine" chick is pretty cute. Props to that Chris guy. Secondly, I was hoping there'd be some updates here about how this is going. If there are updates, I'll assume it's not spam, simple as that. ominc? Any word on any results from your tagcloud experiment?
I should have been a little more clear. What he is doing is promoting a site on which he is advertising. It can be compared to people posting a link to a directory in which they purchased a link...the directory benefits from the backlink and thus their link also benefits. In this case particular case, there are 2 links to a site that has nothing to do with tag clouds, advertising, or the web for that matter. It is simply a personal blog. What he is doing is asking us to visit the blog to check out his tag cloud site. Had he said...check out the tag cloud site I am advertising ...I wouldn't have even bothered to post. But since that would be considered self-promotion, the poster simply tried to distance himself away from the site being advertised (the tag cloud site) by saying that he questions its legitimacy and would be doing a test to see if it really works. So basically, he owns the tag cloud site but didn't present it as such...how's that?
Ahh that makes a lot more sense. That's kind of pathetic of him, but perhaps he was really sharing his excitement of purchasing a damn cloud or whatever they are lol. No?
Whoa Whoa guys. First. Chris vs Chris is my site. I (or our Christine & I's) I do like to test different services through the blog because it gets good traffic and then try and report them for different people to learn from. If this is shameless self promotion, maybe but hardly spam and hardly meant to be a problem. Seriously it is difficult to test a service without using your own website. I own all the sites in my signiture, just so we can put to bed any future discussions of ownership. I would be happy to post on CvC aboutcha rzvagelsky, I think the beat down was a little extreme. As for updates, as near as I can tell it seems to be a little spotty with counting traffic, but it does progressively go up. However.. it has awarded me some improvements to the link that when applied did not work. So I would say it is a legit service, but thus far not fully functional.
If the "beat down" was a little extreme...I am truly sorry. Had I known it was your blog in the first place, I wouldn't have reacted the way i did. It just seemed a little odd that you had a tag cloud site on the home page of your own blog. I understand that they have this whole "point system" going...but it’s a tag cloud site (think Million Dollar Home Page meets Web 2.0). I didn't really see the connection between and personal blog and the tag cloud so I did jump to conclusions there. Also, and maybe you didn't care to look over your post when you made it, there are several grammar errors that I didn't see in your blog...i.e. "there system is" and "your suppose to"...just to name a few. Guess it's just over-analysis on my part. My apologies.
No worries, I was rushing through a post on here and I should have taken my time to be more clear and concise about the whole thing in general.
