Hello... Last week, I began to put some effort back into one of my sites which had sat for a while with no updates. I was recieving about 60-80 uniques per day to the site. It was doing decent with Adsense, with a high CPC and CTR, so I decide to put some more work into in hopes of raising traffic. So I began to write some more articles for the site, posting 2 or 3 per day for two weeks now. Also, I have been, since the inception of the site been translating the articles into two other languages, which used to draw much of my traffic. Since beginning to regularily update my site, however, I am lucky to get 10 uniques per day. I have more pages indexed than ever. I have more links than ever. Why the drop off? It is a low-competition keyword, so it's not the sandbox. In any event, I only have incresed the link count by 10 in that time. The page is the Dolphin one in my sig. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!
How are you so sure it isn't the sandbox? Even low-competition keywords are impossibly hard to rank for while in it! Perhaps adding new content and backlinks after leaving your site unattended for a while triggered something at Google and you've been put in the box. Pete
That may be it. But, It just seems strange to me. I mean, If I was in the sandbox, I would have assumed I was in it already, before this happened. When I originally started the site, so I pushed it hard - *alot* harder than I have recently. still nothing - 5 uniques today. 3 MSN, 2 Yahoo, and 0 Google... This is killing me...
Adding more pages to a website should not affect your current traffic much if any. New pages a take a while to be indexed by google or any other search engine and take even longer to gain authority. Sorry I can't help you out much here.
Did you change the filenames of the site? Because changing the file names of will affect you negatively. As you lose whatever history the old url had. For example, was www.allaboutdolphins.net/what_are_dolphins, always the same? Or did you recently create that page? Cant really comment as I havent seen the site prior to the update.
About 2 months ago, I changed over to friendlier URLs than the drupal defaults... There was a corresponding drop in traffic, about 50%, but that was expected. After a couple of weeks, it returned to it's previous amount, and has been good ever since. Until last week. 1 unique per day... this is unreal...
