Defending champions India have been placed in an easy group A -- alongside Bangladesh and Zimbabwe -- for the 2009 ICC Twenty20 cricket World Championships in England. Since not enough matches have been played in the shortest format of the game to allow viable official rankings, the Board decided to group teams on the basis of their finishing positions in the inaugural edition of the championship this year. ODI world champions Australia have been placed in group C along with Sri Lanka and West Indies. Groups: Group A: India, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe Group B: Pakistan, England, Associate 1 Group C: Australia, Sri Lanka, West Indies Group D: New Zealand, South Africa, Associate 2.
Group A is as competitive as others don't forget both Bangladesh and Zimbabwe have beaten India earlier when India took them for granted.
Yes India is in the easy group but looking at the middle order performers as they are performing in IPL zimbabwe and bangladesh can also give a tough fight. as per my thought group c is the toughest one.
Well, I don't think it will be tough enough for team India. All the players are in good form and they can easily win the T20 WC again. - Digital -
The winner from each group, play in the semi-final...Is it as simple as that? If it does, then India surely has a very easy road map!! Regards, RightMan
Well I don't know where you found this group information since official website is suggesting something different then your information. Check it yourself: http://icc-cricket.yahoo.net/wt20-2009/standings.html Also don't ignore Ireland as many of their players regularly playing T20 Cricket in England. Top two teams will play in Super Eight.
Indian squad looks perfect for a t-20..... Hope we can successfully defend the world championship......
Yes and good thing for us is that all players are fit and playing well in IPL right now and I am sure experince of IPL will surly help us to defend our title.
I think indians must not take Bangladesh easy , as there were out of 2008 world cup in first round due to bangladesh.
It does not matter which group team is in as all the top 2 teams (from each group) will be playing other top 2 teams.
Yes we should keep it in mind! I think Super 8 would be good to watch as Group stages doesn't have big matches.
Group C and D look good. Its good for India to be placed in such a group. Hope they perform extremely well like the way they have been playing in the past.
Yes,It is not because of there are two baby teams in A group, but India is capable team to get the cup of 20/20 2009 against all team.
