I saw it recommended on a list, and they I saw it on a list of things not to do. What do you think? The idea is getting a t-shirt printed with your URL on it for promotion. In your opinion, is that a good idea, or bad idea?
I don't know about T-Shirts, i don't think i'd wear one....but i did think about getting promotional pens made...
I ahve seen bumper stcikers and magnetic signs on cars. Tshirt how many people will see it or read it. If you behind a car at a light you might read bumper sticker when your bored.
if you go with t-shirts that have Url's on it, make sure you have some sexy girls wearing them. Because obese old men could be quite a turnoff.
i think it all depends on what type of website it is and which market you are trying to appeal to. if you have lets say a video game forum then the shirt has to be really nice with graphics and many colors in order to get the attention of younger people and therefore get your website out
You might also have to consider selling t-shirts to your visitors. If your site is community based it not only brings in a bit of revenue, but can generate more publicity (haven't tried it before but the shirts to need to be eye catching to work.) Remember to keep it simple. Skinny
nice, I have a friend that supports 5k races...he donates just enough to get his name on the t-shirt....at the least, I have seen him pay $500 for a race that had 3000 participants, each getting a t-shirt...not a bad way to promote I think.
Well i think nice thought however, needs to give money to the advertisers and with that money i think one can advertise in better manner.... However nice and innovative thinking.
this might be just me, but i actually tend to pay more attention to tshirts when there is a website on them because sometimes you find really cool sites like that
I think if your url is something like: searchmarketing.yahoo.com than it is not much good idea but.... if it is www.yahoo.com or www.google.com that can be useful. The domain should be easy to get traced in the mind of the one who sees it... else ppl won't understand what was written. See either your brand should be strong... or your domain should be catchy
miktor - I'm the same, maybe because of the industry we are in! I personally study all forms of advertising/media wherever I go - It fascinates me - good/poor designs and different media ideas. With regards to the T-Shirts: I think it depends on where you live and where you go. I live in the city of Bangkok, so I'm on the train, walking around the streets, visiting busy department stores etc every day. With many people around me all day, I always wear a polo shirt with the URL (on the back) and my company logo on the front (breast). I haven't got any business from it so far, but why wear another companies t-shirt when you can wear your own?
How could it not be good? The only thing is calculating the return on expenditure ... if the people wearing them aren't mixing with the people who need your site then it's not going to work. Standard advertising rules apply.
I agree 100% - I own a screen printing company (dunriteprinting.com), and I have had people do urls, and sometimes they want like a 20 letter url...which is fine if it makes sense and is easy to remember, but usually it is like their personal website at yahoo or something like that you know, and nobody could remember if they tried. but something like foolishcat.com is easy and cute and people will look it up when they get to work or get home. of course, I think the url on a tshirt is a great way to promote. People always read t-shirts, especially when they are something like an url. Then again, being a screen printer, I read them, inspect them, sometimes follow people and try to look at the quality of the print...hehehe, my wife gets so embarrassed... just remember keep it simple - nice white url on a black shirt is very cool, nice block letters, something easy to read. and also, don't get cheap t-shirts, a lot of sites sell what are called promotional shirts, or give-a-ways. They are cheap, and you really notice how bad they are when you print on them (or wear them), the sleeves are off center, ones longer then the other, and you can read through them. get a 6 ounce or better shirt.
People will go crazy for anything that is free. If you have a shorter URL it will work. The ad on the shirt is only half of the marketing here. Suppose you held a contest with different prizes one being a shirt. Reciprocity means they just might wear it in public. You could have a customer appreciation event for a product launch and give a t-shirt to every 100th person that reads your sales page. Give a t-shirt away to your entire list when you change AR companies. This could be so much fun!
Not a bad idea.I have seen people with Tshirt with their URL on it. U can check on ebay also, there r many who r providing this kind of service.
I would use that sort of promotion only for branding purposes, it's an unmeasurable investment when done in small scale.
Well unless you are going to be walking around (or have some one walking) around in a heavily populated area, mall or concert, etc, its not really going to do much for you. If people don't see it because you are at home all day, how will they find you? ;D
