"|" symbol in site name

    Will putting the '|' symbol in your site name hurt SEO? Ie: For | Example

    No it won't however it will hurt the number of repeat visitors and the number of people who pick your site over a clone.

    if you mean title of your site, then it will not hurt at all.

    And why? I use them in most of my site titles. If nothing else it is just a separator. SITE NAME | SITE DESCRIPTION

    Sometimes I even use 2 of them. Haven't had a problem yet.

    I misunderstood, I honestly thought he was talking about having a site like http://example|site.com

    I know your all probably gonna bash on me over it, I just got done with three sets of 12 hour shifts. (Up for almost 48 hours). My bad...

    BTW yes I know (now that I'm awake instead of sleep walking) that you can't use | in a domain name.

    It's just like hyphen or probably comma as well..

    I don't think it will affect your site in a negative way at all..

    I dont think so, I have that pipe symbol on all of my optimized title pages, but it didnt hurt my promotion work at all.

    No it would not hurt SEO factor. its just symbol that you mostly put to make your title keyword rich or separate some synonymous
