I have recently bought a laptop and I wanted to run the recovery disc. I went to get the disc only to discover I have snapped it (I know I should of backed it up ), anyway I have a recovery partition on my hard drive which contains .gho and .ghs files. I am not good with this sort of thing so I copied all the .gho and .ghs files onto a disc and tried to boot from it to see if that would work...no luck, so obviously I am doing something wrong. Please, please, please if you know how I can make use of the .gho and .ghs files I will be very greatful. I am going to order another recovery disc although I would like to know how I can still recover using this partition incase something like this happens again. Thank in advance guys. Do you have the original Norton Ghost install disc? It is a bootable disc. Boot from that disc, which will take you into the Ghost recovery environment. From there, restore the GHO image. Note that the ghost image must be on a partition other than the partition you want to restore to, or it can be on a CD like you have already done. Or, if you have Ghost installed in Windows, the program should have a "make recovery disc" tool. Make a recovery CD, boot from that, then follow the above steps. Note that the recovery disc is NOT an image of your hard drive, just a bootable disc for getting to the Ghost recovery environment. Good luck
It doesn't matter now, I lied to the shop and told them the laptop was faulty, they gave me a full replacement straight away, I only had the laptop 3 months and snapped the recovery disc . But now I am typing this post on my brand new laptop...but this time I am going to make a backup of the recovery disc.
