the .co.uk for my domain was taken and so I bought the .org.uk which ofcourse is usually used by non profit's but there is no law disallowing it to be used by a commercial company. This was 6 months ago and I have done quite a bit of SEO since then, I may have to change to a .COM domain in order to comply with the office of fair trading standards so that I am able to obtain a consumer credit license. If I redirect my .org.uk to .com will all my juice from .org.uk be lost and how will this pan out in terms of my current keyword rankings? Aslo, how important is a regional domain for local SEO? Any info would be appreciated. PS - the .co.uk version of my domain is already registered. Thanks
Why mess with the .org.uk why not just run two sites and have a nice new dot com for your other needs like trading standards etc and use the .org.uk as a second site as it we're, which is somewhat restricted to the UK anyway unless you specify at Google and even then it is rare to see them rank outside the UK.
Decent idea, I'll deffo keep this in mind. As for ranking outside the UK, my market is solely in the UK. thanks
