I can think of many reasons why someone would move away from Wordpress. The most obvious one is its terrible security track record
I doubt MovableType is that much more secure than WordPress. WordPress dominates the blogosphere so it gets attacked more often...
I've actually been meaning to move from wordpress on a number of sites for some time. I love the fact that MT is a publishing system ... also as a lot of the plugins are more commercial with MT you tend to get less security holes introduced. (At least this is my understanding) My only problem so far has been finding the time. I've done a few installs and played with the templating system and its quite nice but I guess you sometimes just stick with what you know so to speak. (at least until you figure out all the ins and outs of the other system)
The templates of movable types have way too much restrictions opposed to wordpress. Wordpress is also a very seo friendly platform and its silly not to favor wordpress when it comes to wordpress. Also, the fact you said about security and stuff, I'm sure even a 128 bit SSL can be hacked, so does that make the encryption filled with flaws? No! Security is something that should be constantly updated and thats what wordpress does so well compared to any other platform.
?? How so ? I've looked at both and to be honest I don't know that much difference between them Again I've got to ask how so ? Both have rather similar features don't they ?
Who in their right mind would want to switch from the best PHP blogging platform in the world to a buggy, spammy and outdated CGI system?
No they do not.... just try editing a template of MT or changing the template of an already built blog of MT and you will know.
Nope. Do you? What's laughable? WordPress installs greatly outweigh MovableType. Hackers attack larger targets...
