Switch from PayPal to 2Checkout?

Discussion in 'PayPal' started by BlackIrish, Dec 23, 2008.

    Hi.

I want to ask if anyone has switched from just using paypal, to using 2Checkout (because they accept both paypal and direct credit card purchases).

And if so, did you notice any increase or decrease in sales %?

I think I should see an increase, because there are probably a lot of people who only use credit cards, and could use 2Checkout for their purchases?

    Thanks.

Hold on, doesn't Paypal now enable customers to pay via unregistered account on credit card too?

I read somewhere that it does allow for unregistered users to purchase, but everytime I click my "Buy Now" button I see the option to either log in, or to continue checkout by registering an account. Maybe someone knows more about this?

Also, I don't mind the higher fees, as long as the conversion rate goes up, the profit will be bigger.

I don't think your sales will go up because of a switch over, because Paypal is the biggest of its kind.. Everyone knows it.

    Solution: Offer both.

I'm using 2CO, PayPal both. This is my experience, most of the customers who have paypal don't like to go through 2CO. Yes there are advantages of 2CO than Paypal for example their ATM Card for withdraw money, but I think customers prefer paypal.

2CO accepts now also paypal payments so why you need to offer paypal seperately ??

The other way around, paypal also accepts credit card payments...

Although Paypal allows you to pay via Credit Card, you still need to be from a supported country. At the same time, Paypal makes it hard to find the link to pay without signing up.

I personally think that 2Checkout does a better job at weeding out bad hats and frauds and certainly worth the extra fees you pay for the peace of mind. Paypal itself has turned too much to become a bandit market.

No, there isn't. You just be subjected to the 2co fees as 2co would pay any paypal fees as 2co is the seller as far as paypal is concerned.

    How is that ?!
When I go to the checkout in paypal, they assume you DON'T have a paypal account , you have to enter your credit card details right away.

If you want to pay through your paypal account, you have to sign in.

Yes, there are but there are about 20 odd countries which are not included in the list which would include countries in the Middle East, Africa, Pacific Islands and South Asia.

The link is hidden somewhere on the left hand side and there are reports here that people cannot find it.

I took a snapshot of a paypal checkout page, as you can see on the top is stated "PAY WITH CREDIT CARD OR LOG IN"

They assume that you don't have a paypal account , you can pay with your credit card right away.
If you want to pay through your paypal account, you have to log in first.

There is no "hidden link" ?!

    Eddy,

In what country are you located ? I am in Holland.

The link you talk about is not really hidden, you just have to click on "continue" to go to the credit card page.

I get the credit card page immediately.

    Funny...
