Sweeze; Professional Logo & Identity Creation

I am a big fan of unique, original and innovative logo design. I'm trying to distance myself away from the typical web 2.0 reflections and highlights and try to incorporate meaning and identity into my work. I'm actively trying to encourage myself to think outside of the box.

If you have a lower budget and after something a little more basic, I'm not what you're looking for. There are literally of hundreds of individuals on DP who will be happy to create something that meets your requirements. There are many users on here who can make logos for as a little as $5 a piece.

    If you're after something a little more original and unique, that's where I come in. Essentially my design process consists of the following steps;

    • I research my client's niche. Reviewing their current web presence and their competitors'.
    • I then communicate with my client via email or IM to develop a good understanding of their requirements. The key to a good working relationship is communication.
    • I brainstorm ideas. I sit down with a pencil and a pad of paper and sketch out a number of different concepts. Clever, innovative ways to develop a logotype that represents them and their brand. Something people can identify with their website.
    • Create my initial concept in vector format.
    • Submit it to my client and discuss the concept. Make any changes or amendments if necessary. If at this point we decide a different concept is necessary, we will go down that route. That isn't a problem.
    • Continue to work with my client until we we create a professional logotype that meets their requirements together.

    MattB,

While I will praise you for advertising my services, I am slightly dissapointed with how you descripe them.

I would have thought that my logo goes beyond that description, and I have been practicing my logo design on this forum for nearly a year. During my time here, I hope that I have picked up some skill, having made over 100 free logos for members here, and entering numerous contests.

For you to casually describe my work as "cheap" and "basic" is very insulting, and I'm sure that if I did the same toward you, you also would be offended.

Now that you have put forward your opinion concerning my designs, I will do the same in return. These logos are nothing special. There are lots of designers here who could match the quality of your portfolio, myself included.

Also, the process that you go through when designing your clients logos is no different to what I or any other designer does. The only thing different about your sales thread to anyone elses is the price.

So lets let these people decide then, $60 for these or $5 for these.

    Thanks,

    -Hecky.

This is interesting to say the least.

Nowhere did I describe your work as basic or cheap. I suggested that if people have a low budget and are after something a little more basic, then they should consider finding someone else. I pointed them in your direction as you offer logo creation for a fraction of the price. That isn't an insult in any way shape or form, it is simply fact.

My intentions were honourable and I was simply trying to do you a favour.

asterix actually thanked me whereas you take my post as some sort of criticism. I am actually pushing potential clients in your direction yet you choose to react as if I came out and said your work was rubbish.

I am starting to target higher end clients who will inevitably need to pay that little bit extra to pay for that added quality. This includes the in-depth research & development stages that will take up hours of my time.

You have taken this as an opportunity to try and tarnish my reputation and I don't appreciate that at all. All I have ever done is support you and your work. I have actually posted in your Sales thread saying how much of a great guy you are. I'm very disappointed indeed hecky.

If you wanted any references to you or your sales thread removed you only had to contact me privately and I would have been happy to remove it. Going about things in the way you have done has only made you look slightly unprofessional.

I apologise if I have somehow caused offence but I genuinely did not intend to. If you have any more questions or concerns I'd appreciate it if you could continue this conversation via PM and quit hijacking my thread.

    Thanks.

Well, we cannot see that now that you have edited out of the thread. I will indeed proceed with this conversation over PM, but if you want to reason with me, please don't say I have issues because you are mistaken. I will spend as much time on my logos as is needed, until the client is happy, as with everyone else.
