I was checking my Yahoo rankings for some keywords, and was like WTF why's that category under my listing? Low and behold I'm in the damn directory and didn't even spend the $299/yr. Pretty cool, I'm gonna go have a beer now
I can't give any advice, I just submitted to Yahoo much like I did with the DMOZ. Tried to make my listing look like the rest (as far as the title and description) and list in the appropriate category. I submitted about a year ago and nothing happened, and I submitted about a month ago I just noticed today it was listed.
Yes thats quite a feat now adays. Used to be you could get in, you just had to wait forever and a day. Over time you will end up in there, as the older the domain the more likely you will be listed for free
I don't think it's worth $299, specially when I read these inclusions for free. I did payed for a site and didn't notice any increase on it's rankings.
If you have a 'commercial site', you're most likely going to have to pay. And whether it's justified or not depends on the site.
Actually, you want to get to this page: http://add.yahoo.com/fast/add?139818 by going to the directory, finding your category and clicking 'suggest a site' from the top right side of the screen.
