Not easily. Actually depend on what kind of website you have?

    Actually we have eCommerce website,

their is no issue with windows, but we are planning to host our website in Linux as Linux is more secured then windows

whether we recreate the website contains or simply we move to linux ?

it can be as easy as transferring files. All depends, what eCommerce software are you using? Is it pre-made or a custom application? What language is it written in

Oh dear! Listening to rumours will do you no favours whatsoever. That's a myth that's so old it should have retired by now.

But if you want to move it will depend what language your eCommerce site is written in. If it's .NET or user MS SQL as a backend then you'll need to stay with Windows hosting.

Depending on what data do you have.
Typically static html pages are easy to convert.
If you have text based database, it is easy to convert too.
However, if you have data in Microsoft SQL database it will be tough to convert.
You need to convert Microsoft SQL database to MySQL database.
You also need to rewrite all database access scripts to use MySQL.

If you use eCommerce system, find an eCommerce system that you like on Linux (Magento is a good one. You need a good cloud server or dedicated server to run it on).
Then do a product/category export and import so you don't need to recode any database scripts.

His statement may be broad, as both can be secure. But the Linux kernel is more secure and software available allows for more low level tweaks/securing.

Which shopping cart you are using? Will your hosting provider help you with this move? or you have to take care of the whole migration process?

i really thank you all, for your informative suggestions,
But finally we have decided to rewrite the code and update everything which is suitable for Linux hosting.
i think it is best option for fast migration process.

Just as broad and uninformed as you're reply then? Are you seriously suggesting that Linux is more secure than Windows or that you can "tweak" it more? You've obviously never delved into Windows since the days of NT4. I work with windows servers every day and they can be tweaked, locked down, and secured to your hearts desire. We've been hosting for 11 years, only ever used Windows, and have had literally thousands of servers over that time, and never - and I do mean NEVER - had a server hacked or compromised that we managed. There have been sites running insecure scripts that were damaged but damage was restricted to the domain files only - they couldn't get anywhere near the other sites. We weren't even affected by the SQL Slammer worm despite having several SQL servers.

Securing a server is what you make of it, and Linux can be just as secure - or insecure - as Windows, depending upon who is setting it up and managing it. In fact, if it was a case of purchasing a commercial version of Linux and comparing it to Windows Server 2008R2 or 2012, I'd probably put money on Windows now being more secure on the default install than Linux, and much safer to connect to the internet in that condition than a default LAMP install i.e. no tweaks, just install the software to default settings and plug-in. That wouldn't have been the case with server 2003 or earlier, but now it is.

    Hi,

You can switch your hosting platforms but it totally depends on your website. If you have simple html website than there is no issue to switch and your website is developed in asp.net than it will be difficult to switch.

I think all depends on the company itself you have a deal with, the OP.
