About a week or two ago a large branch fell on our family van during a bad storm. The whole roof had to be repaired so we got a rental van during the two weeks of repair. The free rental we got was pretty nice, and about 10 years newer than our van. I think it was a 2009 Plymouth Town & Country or something like that. It might be something to look into. The middle seats can easily fold down into the floor and the backseats can recline or be folded down too. Nice for riding in the back rows, but it could be nice to sleep in too. Just an idea. Good luck! :)

I have had an expedition, Jeep Cherokee, and Hummer and the jeep was the most practical for camping.

I liked the turning radius, the ability to travel over a variety of terrain, and the accessories available for the jeep.

SUVs are for mommys and real estate agents. Get a 1970s Dangel 4x4 Peugeot 504.

Any combi style car, just put down the back seats, have something soft to lay on and voila....

    Cheapest solution at least...

I'm 5'9 so should I be able to fit in most suvs to sleep well if I remove the seats?

hah nice. But all the cars are too expensive or very ugly/not the brand of cars I like.

If i'm not mistaken there are some suburbans or Yukon's that will allow you to fold the back seat down making it completely flat in the back for about 7-8 ft. I would imagine it would be enough room to sleep on.
