I just tried logging in to my Yahoo Answers account and found out that my account has been suspended. I've mainly been using their service to help advertise my websites. All my answers were a direct response to their questions and would not be considered spam in my opinion. If they don't want people posting URLs in their responses then they should disable that.
That's another question I had. Am I indefinitely suspended or will they lift it in a week or two. Even if they unsuspend my account I will stop using them to advertise my websites like I have in the past.
First of all, spamming is unsolicited replies, pop-ups, or emails. If recommending your website as a valid answer to somebody's question then I would not consider that spam. It's if I recommend my website when they're asking for something that has little or no relationship to my website.
The thing is is that Yahoo Answers isn't about posting links after an answer even if it is somehow related to the question, it's about posting direct information. Y! Answers isn't an advertising platform.
If yahoo sees that you are consistently posting the same link to various anwers and contributing little else, they will consider this advertising and ban your account. Even if the link that you post is relevant. To anyone who is using Yahoo Answers as an advertising tool, I would recommend answering a multitude of questions, the majority of which do NOT contain any plugs for your site. If you show that you are a contributing member and not a link spammer you will have better longevity with your account. Try to increase your ranking as well.
Yahoo! Answers objective is not to provide a new way for webmasters to promote their sites. It's normal that they banned your account.
