It is strange that they have so much time to slander annie and remove her as editor but they have no time to remove the pedophile listings. I am sure Annie fighting against these listings, made it much easier for the bitch to find couple of willing Metas that were just over joyed to remove Annie.

Not strange at all when you consider that the "shut up and edit" motto that comes from above is meant as "do as I say, not as I do."

In case of pedophile listings, it is more likely that "they do as they list".

You were misinformed. Normal porn companies don't even dare to touch the kind of illegal and underground porn that is advertised and listed by DMOZ "senior" editors. ;)

The legal/illegal arguments are always difficult - if a site is illegal then the authorities should remove it and prosecute owners, hosts, etc. That is the normal ODP line as well and it has some validity in some cases. However, (a) porn attracts organised crime and corruption, (b) you don't need a lawyer to tell you whether it is right to list sites that aide and abet paedophiles, (c) there is a catalogue of evidence to show ODP's irresponsibility when it comes to dealing with adult sites and minors (editors and surfers).

    OMG!

Those parasites will try and get in anywhere they can fit their unethical crap!

Someone really should put these people out of business for good( I don't mean DMOZ either)

It just goes to show you there are a lot of "sick" people lurking out there in cyber space!

    That is so sad!

I hope those of you that have children take the appropriate measures & precautions to safe guard your children, and always know what they're looking at online!

I'm curious to hear what others have to say on the subject

    Later,

One way is to ban your kids from using DMOZ, and certainly do not allow them to edit there. Arguments to introduce measures to protect child editors have fallen on deaf ears, they have listed paedophile sites, and actually temporarily restored them after a responsible editor removed them, the senior Adult editor (a meta editor) owns and lists dozens of her own porn sites and is also a senior editor in the specialist Kids and Teens branch, and so on. There are no warnings before you enter the Adult branch, no age verification method, and they list the sickest sites you can imagine, and separate the AVS sites from the free ones just so if your kid doesn't have a credit card it is extra easy for them. I was a senior editor (editall) myself once and I did start a critical debate on the Adult branch - I got an official warning for that. Make your own mind up whether you think DMOZ should be put out of business now!

Don't forget about the child porn sites that were listed in DMOZ and how the "senior" editors still refuse to stop listing of sites that don't state the age of the models.
