Surfin Directory

Hey everyone, we have started a new directory called Surfin Directory. It can be found at http://www.surfin.com

It is a paid web directory, with a PR2.

Why submit your site to a paid directory you ask. Well, below you will find the reasons.

Number 1. The domain name is great! It is highly brandable and will get traffic just because of the name!

Number 2. This site is run by Myself and Surchin (another member of dp) whom runs the surch engine Surch.com which most of you have heard about. If you are making a paid directory, it’s a good idea to have a customized unique skin, and would be fun if its surf related.
That’s my 2 cents

I think you should make one of payment option. This way you will get more people to submit. Otherwise I thinkyou will get just few submission.

 

I think the new skin will be ready this weekend. Thanks for the advice ASK... that is just what we were thinking as far as making it "surfin" oriented...

Do you mean add more than one payment option? I think that is what you mean, and we will be very shortly. We are currently getting a custom design done and we don't want to mod out a template that we arn't going to be using long and then have to remod it all again when we get the new one!

Personally I don’t think is a good idea to promote the directory and accept submissions without the custon skin and some of the value features, with the premium price you are asking.
Just my opinion.
I will be interested after its finished and we know exactly what your value proposition is.

Is that true? Then why you are using StoneFLash?

 

I'm not using stoneflash, I just used stoneflash as guideline as this was my first attempt at making a template with php link directory. I used StoneFlash as a guideline because I really like the layout. Even when I asked on phplinkdirectory 's forums and on dp forum's everyone told me the best way to do it was to use another template as a guideline. So I did just that...I used StoneFlash as a guideline and nothing else.

Ag, This is Surchin. I own that domain and work with mystickal on it. Personally I don't mind paying for the layout... but I disagree with your comments. HTML is free to the world. Looking at someones design or layout on the net is not a crime or unethical. In fact I'm willing to bet that everyone at some point looked at someones design and took ideas from it... its the very nature of development; to improve (or in some cases screw up) on something else... Thats like saying that someone that uses a grey bar on their site somehow owes tribute to someone that already had one...

Anyways I do appreciate your design and your work. I m glad that mystickal was able learn from it so send me a PM and Ill paypal you the link removal fee and Ill credit you 500 USD in advertisement on surch.com for your troubles. I hope that will satisfy you.
