For the data not coming from other search engines, do you spider the sites yourself? If so, what's your user-agent string for robots.txt files?
ash1 didn't you just say your site was showing a blue box and not a preview, so surch already has your site... so there would be no point in adding it again. Also if search engines get there data from an array of sources, a spider would just be one... not an array of them. I bet surch spiders, uses many other search engines and directories to get there results.

Beautiful design! I don’t know if it’s just my taste or what but I really like the design. I also like the tagging interface for refining your search.

I cant tell you how many designs Ive gone over through the years. I should post a link to my chicken scribble that was the inception of what surch looks like now...its pretty funny actually. Also one feature that will be released soon is where you can set a preference to the color that prefer surch to be and its stored on a cookie in ur comp...so instead of blue buttons you can have pretty little green ones :-p (thanks to a DP member for that suggestion) And with our browser it will auto-detect what skin you have elected and match surch.com accordingly.
You should also make some sort of visual indication on what youre searching for, like the other DP'er said. If you click on, say "people search", the page just blinks, you cant tell that you are searching for people....
I just wrote a review for you on alexa/amazon too. Hurry up and get it finished so you can do press releases and whatnot. When you make it big, and everyone is like "just surch it" and surch becomes a household name like G, I can say "I used to talk to know the owner of surch!" Then my friends can proceed to call me a computer nerd and tell me to stfu like they usually do =o

your sites arent on where? in my results or in the preview thumbnails? the thumbnails update periodically but I can try and get your sites working for you if you send me some example strings from surch where they are "blue" still...
did i hear SURCHRANK!!! wohooo...DPADMIN, i hope you are adding a SURCH SUB-forum in the search engine category, and now all seos will be working around surch's SURCHRANK and PAGERANK.. surch..its great to talk to a potential billion$ ceo/founder before he even launched your program... all of us in DP, will be saying in 10 years..."oh i used to know the founder of surch" lol
surchrank should be attached to your toolbar, and should be out of 10 so its parrallel to other means of website ranking. You should also make sure you include quality of links and visitors in the rank. and also you should make sure the SURCHrank relfects the SERP in surch, so unlike the PAGERANK which is irrrelevant to google serp, SURCHRANK should be relevent to SURCH, a lot of ppl would be happy
age, relevance of backlinks, relevance of out bound links, unique content, alexa rank, page rank, dmoz/yahoo directory listed or not. I'm sure there are a ton of ways to weigh surch rank, just a few of my ideas. SURCH RANK!@@!
I think after he starts doing press releases, digg, delicous, stumble upon, etc. it's going to really blow up. You should also try to figure a way out to let individual people vote for a site ya know? Something like digg.com does. Only problem with that is people will try to cheat the system. Google has the little vote buttons on their toolbar, but I'm not sure it even means anything, but something like that. You could even add another search category called like "the peoples choice" or something. Then allow people to vote for sites. If you are searching the the peoples choice engine it will turn up the results that have the most bookmarks/votes. I dunno, just some ideas... Maybe you can use places like digg, delicious, stumble upon, etc to weigh surch rank or serps too. If a site has 2000 or 3000 diggs, chances are it's a pretty cool site. Or, if 5,000 people on stumbleupon.com have the site bookmarked, then that says alot about the site quality you know? Juuuuust some ideas for ya...
