Seph, glad you like it. We aim to please. Surch however doesnt release that kind of info but rest assured it has the means to go for the long haul. :-P
you wont become big unless you find some way to improve speed its terribly slow for me on a 2mb connection, if you can get anywhere near google speed you have a winner, and it will be my homepage
angel, we just were performing some maintenance on our systems but normally surch is extremely fast its just been the past 4 hours while we made some changes... try it now and see what you think. sorry media. but glad you like it.... whats your engine?
yeah a bit quicker hey..im starting a new webmaster community soon.maybe you should put a way for people to put surch on their own websites I would incoporate it into mine happily..pm me !
you can also use the webmaster tools... http://www.surch.com/tools/surch_lab.php theres an "add surch tools to your site link on that page" -surchin
I get errors for the pictures in your news section.. Just figured you'd want to know (and if you already know this sorry)... I use FF, win xp.
thanks dastuff... the images and news section are undergoing a massive update... I cant wait for DP memb's to see the next release coming soon. Theres going to be some massive changes
nice site with a difference. How did you determine which sites to add to your database to start with, what criteria did you use? Good luck
Hey TheBuzz as stated previously in the post, which I know most poeple don't read all of a long post lol don't blame ya, his engine is a meta engine which is also unique because he also has his own crawler. If I'm quoting this right it uses 14 different search engines and then the 15th is his own crawler. The other nice thing about this search engine that makes it different from other meta search engines is that he actually has a huge algo to go with it as he has his own crawler as well. So the results seem to be very good. At least to me I think they are Hope I helped!
I'm curious as to which technologies powers this engine. Which database are you using? Language? I'd imagine a .NET compiled language as the backbone and asp.NET as the front layer. Can you share a bit of overall information as to which technologies are powering surch or is that private too?
Surch is its own proprietary engine and for the most part that information is private. However, as you can see from using it, its not asp.net Surch has its own crawler but is also a meta that access 14 sources, the 15th being its own. So in a sense its a hybrid crawler/meta engine that blends data from multiple sources and is able to cull the best results the web has to offer because of such.
Wow, kinda cool. I like the feature that let you peek into the website before entering it. Unlike other search engines, it is a waste of time when the website's information is not something you want. Peek and see, close it if it's not what you want. Maybe there're many other SE that have this feature, but I don't see many so far.
glad you like it vincent... I dont think Ive ever seen anyone using our preview method but who knows....
hrm... maybe im missing something there monty but I dont see a preview on that site... if you are refering to the site thumbs...yes I see those but what vincent was talking about was when you pull a result on surch to the right of each Title for the listings there is a "preview" button.... that opens the page in question using an iFrame...
