Surch.com has just launched its directory at:

    http://directory.surch.com

There is an affiliate module that will be up by tuesday but as it stands its in perfect operating conditions.

Does anyone have any feedback on it? All comments and suggestions are welcome.

Personally the monthly link fee is a real turn off for me. I would rather pay a big onetime fee than pay a little each month. I like to know after I buy something, it's going to always be there with no need for monthly payments. God knows I have enough monthly payments as it is =X

Naples, you can signup for say a featured link and then after you fill out the info and click next it takes you to the payment options for paypal. You can then select "subscribe" which will automatically deduct each month for the service or below that there is "months" and you can add as many as you like so for instance 12 would change your payment to 12 months.

Does this help or should we do it a different way?

    Thanks,
    Surchin

One time fees are always better, less of a hassle, even with subscription.

Surch.com is one of the fastest growing engines on the net with an average of 20K in alexa, a predicted PR of 4, well over 2 million hits per day and we launched after 5 years of development just 3 months ago.

Surch has just recently launched its directory at: http://directory.surch.com

There will be an affiliation appliance up within 2 days.

There also is going to be some incentive for people who submit such as a free PPC/sponsored listins account with Surch....

    Thanks,
    Surchin

hrm well I suppose we could do that... Im not really handling the directory but my input counts a little onv. but... :) however I think they were taking the approach that surch.com gets millions of hits a day and it would quickly become filled... we just turned it on a couple days ago and have some featured already without any marketing but I see your point.

    Hello,

    I would also prefer

    a) One of payment for listing.
    b) Or a free listing to get content in your directory.

As the directory is so new its hard to ask someone for payment.

    PS. Love the design

Michael we aren't recording on the directory right now especially since its going to be on its own servers but Surch.com is no prob... is that what you were asking about?

Podman, what do you mean by one payment? as to free listings the reason is just that surch is primarily trying to weed out the spammers and the traffic to the engine makes it worth it in our eyes. Maybe we will offer DP members a limited time offer... Ill throw the idea around and get back to you.

    thanks!,
    Surchin

    Just my first thoughts.

At 4.95$ per month the cost comes at almost $60 per year, that's almost as much as BOTW. Too much for a new directory imho

    You have very few categories

The categories are all empty, if you don't want to offer free submissions you can always populate them yourself.

thanks for your feedback guys! I think aside from spammers there are some other factors that were looked at such as the directory being listed on the homepage of www.surch.com and something we haven't mentioned...our browser. Surch has been developing a browser with a team of over 2 dozen programmers for the past 2+ years. Its unlike anything else out and will default to surch's homepage giving the directory a very large audience. Additionally there are tools/options within the browser that will again provide the dir with much more exposure. To see just one of the skins of the browser and get a feel for it goto: www.surch.com/blue_all.jpg

As to the categories we are adding now...but go ahead and suggest some if you would like.

Just another suggestion since we are on the "pay over time instead of monthly thing".

One thing you may try is to reduce the cost as each month is added as well. It doesn't have to be alot, it just happens to appeal to people because they save money.

Not only do you only have to worry about charging them say 1 time a year but your credit card fees/transaction fees will be lower to now because of this.

Say you charge 4.95 for 1 month.
    Well 3 months = 10.95
    6 months = 19.95

Well, you get the idea... :)
