Supplemental Results

One of my sites has every page but home page in supplementals, therefore it has zero traffic.

What would be wiser to do:
    - remove the old pages and create new ones with new URLs, and get some external links to them.
    or
    - start developing links for these deep pages and hope they will come out of supplementals some day.

Do you mind giving the URL. I'd like to see that if possible before commenting. Supplementals can be for a variety of reasons.

In this case I guess the reasons are low pagerank and duplicate content.
I am currently removing duplicate text, and wondering would it be better to create new pages or keep the old URLS

Backlinks my friend back links... (lose the dupes as well) - that should get more pages out of the SI. Also some deep linking would be good.

As ol Matt Chutts recently said as part of the Google update 2007

BTW - Is that your site in the siggy? I just left a comment on the Phrase Based IR stuff for U)

yes I agree, bringing more backlinks is the main strategy to pull the pages out of the supplementals.

The question is: wouldn't it be better to create new pages and get backlinks to them, would they appear in SERPs sooner than the old pages?

I don't panic over the supplementals, my blog has one or two pages there and it still brings lots of Google referrals. But in the case of vacation-wizard - every page except home page is supplemental. Why not just ditch them?

PS. thanks for the comment in my blog, thegypsy

Hmmmm....I still don't understand why? I mean even if a page does not have any backlinks, why does Google place it in supplemental???

A site/page with a weak link profile looks inactive to the SEs. Popular pages/sites have more active link profiles and thus are weighted as being more current. An active link profile development campaign including deep linking should do fine... to offset this

Can you people believe it? Few links from this forum and three articles: 30% of pages are out of the supplementals!

Yea, article submission helps for supplemental results. I have positive experience with it.
