Yes, i think google sitemaps to encourage Googlebot to spider supplemental indexed pages faster.Sitemaps locate the new areas of new contents to the se spiders where it has never indexed before. so, think it may...:)

Ok, sounds interesting. Has anybody ever had any luck just by altering the page content, making it more unique, changing the tags etc to have an effect, or does it seem to be more link in, or scrap the page?

Suplemental pages does not harm your ranking to other keywords but the pages which are in suplimental index do not get you traffic via search engine.

I don't even think the content of the supplementals is included in "site:" searches is it?

Basically those pages are banned from google, but to be nice they just call them supplemental

    Usually Ive found that either

-the pages arent getting enough PR filtered to them

-the pages are too similar to your other pages, perhaps you have a database dependent site and many pages are being created with the same title or description

You might wanna look at your internal linking structure.

    Dear SeJourney

I am not saying about whole site. I am talking about value addition using duplicate content here and there. These content can not be used for SEO purpose. or for getting links. But when we do have to supply relevant stuff to user at our site, we always use good and quality stuff...duplicate or not..does not matter.

Not sure but I think that PR is still passed from the supplemental index, so if you created spammy pages (I am sure no one around here would) they would never be found by end users and still have the positive SEO benefit of passing page rank.

supplemental results not good especially there are plenty of it in your site... affects your SERPs...links exchange, create unique and rich contents, don't DUPLICATE (create your own contents)......

Supplemental result web pages do appear if they are the most relevant for a given keywords. Google searches giving numbers such as the site: search will usually give slightly varying numbers. The result for the Google search is much more informative. It may turn out that the web page is shown as a supplemental result.

I have seen many supplemental pages appear in Google searches for obscure items and products - surely these pages must just rank bottom of the pile compared to the primary index right?
