I tried posting something similar in a different forum but didn't get a clear response. I am starting a superman blog and was wondering what pictures I can put in. Can I put any in? How do I get permission for it? Do I need permission? And if you know of another superman blog I could check out I would like to see
Hope I get some help and thanks.

I dont know of any others, but you can do generalized search engine searches for this.

You would need to find who has the rights to the Superman image, logos, etc and get permission from them.

    Warner Bros. owns Superman.

Good luck getting permission to use images. Warner Bros. is one of the worst of the media companies out there for aggressive lawyering. They're awful and they will come after you for even minor infractions.

We've tried faxing, phoning, and e-mailing their marketing department for permission/access to promo images. NO response, except for one person I managed to get on the phone, who told me I had to buy images through a site like Getty Images. (Waaaaaay out of my price range, and technically difficult to meet their licensing requirements because they're country-specific.)

do some research on "public domain" and throw "superman" in that search. I know that you can now use the word Superman and the S-symbol without having to pay royalties, since it went public domain a few years ago.

Think again. The S-symbol is still an active trademark (registration number 2211378). The word superman has many active trademarks for everything from toothbrushes to comics to data communications to candy to etc.... Go to the US trademark website and do a TESS search for superman. The trademark on the word is alive and well.

Trademarks are not like copyrights and patents. They do not go into the public domain after a certain period of time. They are active as long as they are used. There is no limit on how long a company can register a trademark.
