It’s important to know that a meal at McDonald’s is a WANT not a NEED, even if it sometimes feels like the later.

    McDonald’s appeals to people’s WANTS.

For your website, you might have a product that you know your potential customers NEED, but you have to make them WANT it.

We know we NEED to eat fruit, but most of us don’t actually WANT it, so we don’t buy enough of it.

If you can create a solution to a NEED, then you need to appeal to your potential customers WANTS.

With McDonald’s, it’s actually quite the opposite.

We certainly do not NEED a McDonald’s but 47 million people a day WANT it.
You see, the power is in the WANT.

A powerful WANT becomes a NEED in the consumers mind.

In fact, I can feel the urge for the WANT so much right now just typing this, I feel I NEED to go out and buy myself a McDonald’s!

And you see, this is where the problem is. We convince ourselves that we need something, because we want it so bad.

What do we really NEED though?

    Basic foods and water.

Could you survive without a McDonald’s? Sure you could, but the marketing is so powerful that it feels like an actual NEED.

    How to create a WANT

Talk in terms of people’s desires.

What is it that your customers desire the most in life?

    Let’s look at some examples…

    Golf Blog

If you run a golf blog, people might come to your blog to get information on how they can improve their swing, which ultimately improves their game.

Why do they want to improve their game though? Is it so they can beat their neighbor on a Sunday morning when they have their golf session? Is it so they can be a professional golfer?

If so, you need to make sure you advertise it this way, you need to create a WANT within your potential customer, in this example, potential customers can let themselves turn that WANT in to a NEED, let’s see how this could happen…

A neighbor of mine goes golfing every Sunday morning with a couple of other friends. Whilst they are only playing it as something for entertainment, they are still competitive about it.

The majority who play golf tend to be the ones towards retirement age. These people would have played sport when they were a bit younger, more demanding sports like soccer or football.

So, it’s important to understand these people are still competitive, they still WANT to improve their game.

One Sunday morning they might have played so badly they convince themselves that they NEED to improve their game.

This is where they start looking for solutions. If you can find that ultimate WANT, the customer turns it into a NEED in their own mind and all you’ve got to do is provide a solution and market it in terms of that potential customers NEED.

    Make Money Online Website

This is why there’s so many people trying to advertise to the ‘make money online’ niche.

Lots of people WANT to get rich, it’s down to your advertisement to make them feel like they NEED to get rich.

For example, a website offers to fill that NEED in their advertisement by offering a solution, think of a headline such as ‘Earn $300 a day’.

The headline isn’t enough to turn that NEED into a WANT though.

The potential customer certainly WANTS to make $300 a day, but how can you make them feel like they NEED to make $300 a day?
We’ve got to figure out, why they WANT $300 a day.

Is it because they have a dream car they wish to purchase? If so, put that in the advertisement, here’s a quick example ‘My $300-a-day Secrets Could Buy You That Dream Car You Desire’
