Super-Cache for Wordpress Blogs (Not Caching)

Hello, I am having issues getting the plug in "Super-Cache".

I need it to get working on my blogs.

Has anyone have any past experience with this plug in? I can not seem to get it to work. I have uploaded and activated the plug in wordpress. I even enabled it completely through the Options -> WP Super Cache.

It looks like it is enabled but for 2 days it did not cache any pages. I am having a terrible WP issue, all my blogs are single WP installs and they consume a massive amount of resources calling the system to hang ALOT.

My question is basically 'what is next'. What can i do next to troubleshoot?

    So far i have done:
Cmod Permissions on wp-content to 777
Cmod Permissions on wp-content/cache to 777
    Cmod .htaaccess file to writable

    Created "supercache" folder inside wp-content/cache/supercache

But im still not indexing any pages.

I was hoping maybe someone knows this plugin well, or has delt with similiar problems in the past.

I moved from Dreamhost shared hosting to A1 Websolutions VPS, and the MYSQL is eating up my server.

    Thanks!

    markn26: thanks for the reply.

I know im not alone, and what sucks is there is not too much documentation on the possible 'fixes'. If you google WP-Super Cache problems its usually the same situation as mine, but only like 2 possible fixes lol

But Super-Cache is the only cache plugin that actually creates static pages, so it will HELP Tremendously on my VPS. (too many single WP blog installs, all calling for the mysql with no cache, causing bad hangs)

thanks for the link, ill read it now =]

It even got to the point, where i have a rentacoder post for a coder to help me out lol

If this thing gave me errors, i could figure it out lol, but it seems everything is installed fine =[

I hear you...I really need this plugin, too, but it doesn't seem to work that well at all...hopefully some kind of good resolution can come about soon.

Keep in mind that the biggest drawback of Supercache, or any caching program, is that it will cause several plugins to stop working correctly...anything that involves voting, ranking, auto-generated lists (like popularity contest, etc)

wp-cache always works, those other plugins require apache server specifics

I was able to get this working.

    Some Ideas to maybe help.

    1. Before you "activate" super-cache, manually create the "cache" folder with "supercache" and "meta" inside. Cmod All these folders to 777

    2. Activate Plugin

    3. Enable the Plugin from Options -> SuperCache - BUT DO NOT DO THE MOD REWITE CHANGES untill all options you want are clicked/set. (Example: If you want gzip enabled and lockdown enabled, then enable them first, and then click "update mod rewrite". For some reason i noticed if i upadted the htacces file, and then wanted to enable gzip, it would leave the code out even when i clicked update.

    4. If still not working, open .htaccess file and hardcode your full paths into the PHP. This is the one thing that i believe helped 100%.

    5. If you cant get it working, i can try, for a small fee for my time for logging into your ftp,etc , but would rather you do it, and i can walk you through it here, so its documented for everyone.

    don't chmod 777 unless 766 won't work.

neverheard of hypercache. Anyone else use it? Does it cause any incompatibilities with the related post plugins?

I use hyper cache, it doesn't give me any problems and its much more efficient and easier to implement than both wp cache and super cache. Trust me, its that damn good so go get it!

I tried to get supercache working for about 3 weeks. I then read this thread and installed hypercache and it started working straight away!

I wonder if it will prevent my site from crashing after something getting popular on it :D
