Yup. Better not to go there.

But if you plan to do this with just two sites, make them a bit different (Template/look/meta tags/IP) and then start adding links on both than I guess it's not that bad.

But do not go for a Directory Network. (Same structure with over 10 sites)

guess as long as the directories are not identical in terms of structure like categories, layout, descriptions, etc... it shld work fine. However, don't know how it will work out since submissions will be in slightly different categories. Unless u r thinking of owning a network of like >10 directories, u cld easily do it manually i guess.....

Hard to do that, if you're thinking of using the same database.

If you want to run several directories that accept similar links, it's better to simply link them on the submission acceptance page, and encourage submitters to apply to all the directories in your network. That way you will occasionally get different text submitted, in the instances when someone is using a good quality submission service. Otherwise you will need to rewrite the descriptions yourself.

If two database are to be linked so the site have to be in the same shared hosting, same IP so like once a db is updated of one site, the other get updated.

This will result in supplementary results for your site or may I say it will be tagged as spam.
