Im using a vbulletin forum and I was using mods but I got a bad one and my site crashed now I cant use any of them because I have to use the hook system just to get onto the site. you are better off using template edits.

one mod not to use is the arcade destorys your bandwidth.

All of the mods are supported heavily in the vbulletin.org forums and I have never had any issues with any of the 20 or so mods I use.

DigitalPoint doesn't have that many mods - most of it is pure vbulletin with promotions, infractions, etc. Recent blog and the music one are the key mods and vbulletin.org has a few different options for that.

wanting to be like dp is ok but why... surely your business plan has specific goals - and not just to be a clone of someone else's site?

I think the Reputation plugin is are fantastic, and would not mind using it myself on a completely unrelated site. I also really like the concept of the iTrader, and again would not mind using it for a section on my site that will be akin to the BST here, but I'd seriously doubt anyone would think I was cloning if I used them...

Though, I've seen this question asked a few times, and do wonder if they are just starting up a new webmaster forum. I've seen too many dead forums on this niche, and I highly doubt even a DP clone would help all that much.

There are several hacks and mods here on Digital Point though. Most of which can all be found through a simple search on vBulletin.org

Latest Blog Feed in Postbit using Carp RSS - vBulletin.org Forum

[How to] Add custompages to your forum - vBulletin.org Forum

How To Add Drop Down Menus To Your Navbar - vBulletin.org Forum

Are just a few of them. Head over to vBorg to find the rest...though keep in mind that even the mods installed here have been hacked ~ so to get a true clone, you'll need to tweak the tweaks :D

    I guess I wouldn't classify #2 or #3 as "mods".

    Reputation is standard vB
    iTrader is a mod.

    - Send email to inactive Users Hack
    - Welcome Headers Hack
    - Mods that help with sending mass emails (txt/html, X copies per batch, etc.)

    - Hacks that help earning money from forums. Thinking about developing my own, fully customizable hack, based on what I know about forums/users behaviour, but there's still a long way to go...

    instant greeting thread creation hack.
AI talkerbot -- artificial intelligence bot that learns and post from your forum's behavior
Can't use pm without a certain post limit hack.
    default signature hack
    Auto reply hack
    Send PM on promotion hack
    vbseo
    smith warning system
    inforbar
    avatar rules
    arrange forums in columns
    sub forum manager
    ip info
    proxy to real ip conversion

Definitely get this one ====> "Website who have referred hack". It gives you input on what searches or sites are sending traffic to your board. Modify it so that only admin sees it and then display it in the "what's going on area." Analyze the traffic and exploit keywords to increase your traffic. It is easier than going into the Cpanel.

One more hack you need. Get the hack to make your board's "speed seem faster."

No one likes a slow loading board.

This is all I can give you, my board has way too many hacks to list on here.

My advice is that you go off the input of others, but create your own style to make your board unique.

The Rep here is not standard though. It's been modified...

I'd like to see stats to prove that. If I don't get to see what I'm looking for I have a higher tendency to leave rather then register. I find anything thats bothersome to 'guests' turn me off enough to leave... though I'd not mind a few extra ads unless they are in my face, or intrusive on some other level.
