Suggestions to improve rank when it isn't always appropriate to update content

    Hi All,

Just like everyone else I would love to improve my page ranking in Google for certain keywords. I know one way of doing this is to continuously provide up to date keyword rich content on my page, however what is the best technique when doing this isn't appropriate?

For example, my site has a main sales page and then a members area. The members area is updated at times however it isn't appropriate to constantly alter the sales page - more so I don't wish to as I'm very happy with it and it converts well.

So my question is - are there any other ways I can work to improve my page rank other than building up backlinks.

I had considered installing a blog on my domain to compliment the main page i.e. blog.mydomain.com and then updating this regularly with additional information regarding my service.

Does anybody know if this is a viable method?

    Thank you in advance.

So that alone would be sufficient to help my ranking?

I have been following all the other standard techniques but have been curious to know if I'm being penalised due to 'static' content on the main page.

Also jusy worrying if I posted this in the correct forum! Apologies if it should have been in the SEO thread.
