I have just started a new blog http://cooktrix.com/blogs for food, recipe and wine related subjects and want to get people to start posting to it. What would the best way to initially go about this?- Run a competition or pay per posting for initial quality posts? I'm caught a little between a rock and a hard place as I only have limited startup funds to do either and feel a little hesitant with using the competition angle as someone ultimately does miss out in the end, even though they may have put as much work into the competition as the winner. I do have intentions of running a longer term competition for the best food, wine or recipe posting to the site (prize will be a quality jewelry item). However this is not intended to get the site up and running and my conscience would be able to handle this, as all postings to this competition would be done on a voluntary basis over a longer period of time. If anyone has any suggestions or advice that might help it certainly would be appreciated. Also if anyone suggests going with the competition angle could you please give some idea on a fair way of going about this also some idea as to terms and conditions to set so that everything is, and appears above board. A few simple ground rules: 1) Posters must have a good grasp on english and on english grammar. 2) No duplicate content or cut and paste will be accepted. 3) Payment will be made by Paypal only. Proof will have to be provided that the job has been completed and that it has been completed to our requirements. 4) Postings must relate to the blog theme ie food, wine, recipes or their subcatagories and must be of a reasonable quality (no lol, yes, no's or similar). 5) Prior agreement must be obtained from us before you begin to post for payment on the blog - please don't post for payment on the blog without our prior consent then come back at a later time and ask for payment for something that we did not ask you to do. 6) Postings are to be new threads with replys etc but not related to existing posts already on the blog. 7) Once the twenty places have been filled I will post to this thread to let people know that all the positions have been filled and that there are no more available. Please also keep in mind when posting, that as an added incentive as well as the $5.00 payment for posting to the site that in the next several weeks that we will be putting up a quality piece of jewelry as a prize for the best post to the cooktrix blog and that all existing and current posts will also be included in the final draw for this item. (I apologise but at this stage I can't give you any further info. as the prize is currently being valued by a jeweller and we are working on the terms and conditions of the competition but I can tell you that the minimum amount the item/items will be worth in the end is in the vicinity of $1000.00 US dollars if not more). Anyone is most welcome to make postings to the site just to enter for the prize prior to or once it actually does come up. The other incentive that I offer is that it if we are happy with postings made to the Cooktrix Blog is, that it would be highly likely that we will continue to use good posters to the site for further work. Please also keep in mind that we are located in Australia and that we might not be able to reply immediately to any posts because of time differences but will get back to you as soon as humanly possible. Owing to a number of further pm's received asking for further explanation and clarification of what we require when posting to the blog we again offer the following information: The whole idea is for you to tell us how many posts/words you will use on the blog for the $5.00 Paypal payment. If your offer is reasonable we will accept and pay you upon completion of the task (we obviously dont expect a 1000 word article, huge book or a life story but a worthwhile, interesting contribution to the blog). Also if we are happy with what has been posted there may be some extra work in it for whoever has put the effort into the task. So to keep it very, very simple - tell us what you are prepared to do when posting to the blog to earn $5.00 (eg number of posts/words/replys etc). I apologise if I'm going wrong with the explanation somewhere but I thought that I could not make it any simpler than this. Cheers Langleau.
