Suggestions on Taking Traffic to the Next Level

I have now been managing the marketing my firm's website for a little over 18 months. Our firm is a local (statewide) commercial and residential window tinting company. Our goal is to get clicks from local people searching for information on window film or in search of window film providers. We then want them to call or email us. We spend a few hundred dollars per month on Adwords and post on Craigslist often. I stay fairly active on a few forums to help with link building. I have also been using Zoomrumble from Fivver to help build links.

I did try and hire a reputable marketing firm to manage the site marketing with decent results. However, after 6 months I did not see improvement to justify the cost and took the marketing back over. I do not spend NEARLY the time I should on SEO. With that being said, we have done very well on the website. It absolutely makes money. Although, the number of clicks have been tapering off the last few months (could be the cold weather, but it is more than I would like to see).

I have lost a little bit of steam in the SEO department. I have Google rankings from 15 to 80 on many of my keywords. I would like to get those more like top 10. I am in search of suggestions as to what activities are critical for me to take my site to the next level on the organic traffic front.

What are the critical things that I need to focus on (i.e. blogs, links, etc) to achieve top 10 rankings on my focus kws? Could you suggest any resources for me as someone with limited time but the desire to manage the marketing of their own site (like Fivver)?

Site: sunglowf.com

Examples of our keywords: denver window tint, solar window film, low-e window film.

Thank you so much for the input!

Make sure you are in Google Spaces & have your business in Google maps.... Google simply *loves* to provide localized content!

What is Google Spaces? (I have Googled it and have not found anything concrete!)

What do you mean Google loves to provide localized content?

Thank you for the comment.

"Google Spaces" = Shorthand for "Google Shared Spaces". Check out the announcement by Google at http://googlewave.blogspot.com/2010/12/announcing-google-shared-spaces.html

Check out my post "Your #1in Google is worthless in the rest of the world". It is evident that Google has a local bias. Make sure that your business is registered in Google Maps to profit from that bias!

Hi ,
If you are targeting a local keyword, why going with broad ones like "solar window film", "low-e window film".
Add Denver to your targeted keywords and ranking will be easier and traffic more accurate.
You can then go and check google for competition by entering your keyword within quotes and check google keyword for an estimation of traffic.
Go to your website, find where you can add text and add a paragraph with your keywords in , also if possible an h1 header.
If possible create a facebook page for your fans and encourage people who did try your business to post positive feedback or even put them on your website.
You can always benefit from social bookmarking, press releases and article marketing. you can also go to fiverr and get some backlinks but don`t overdo it.
If possible get links on websites related to your business or even pay for some good PR links. google values this the most. I found that 1 related link is worth lots more a high PR non related.

I would also recommend offline advertising, flyers postcards and so on.

I hope this helps

Great information! We do carry out significant offline advertising that is quite effective for us.

I believe you have done exactly what I needed: I realized after your post that I need to dominate my three main keywords in each of my three geographies FIRST. That is where the money is. There will be more traffic if I focus on general kws but they do not pay the bills... Thank you for the awesome comments.

I have set a new goal to be top three in each of these kws by the end of the year!

I have a facebook page that I continue to develop and we have testimonials that will soon be up on the site. I will continue to do bookmarking, press releases, and article submission. Today I reached out to folks in the industry to ask about link exchanging as one way to get relevant backlinks. Any suggestions on other ways to seek relevant backlinks?

Also, am I best bookmarking the page that ranks best for my local kws or my homepage?

I will also continue to do on page optimization with my new goal in mind!

Thank you again!

One more question: when social bookmarking, should I bookmark each blog post? Can I bookmark different blog posts on the same site?

Thank you,
