Suggestions on a free script to add chat functionality to a forum site?

EDIT: I see now there is a topic below mine with some chat script info but It is about chat for talking to customers.. I am looking for something that maybe someone has experience to recommend a script to me and that will suite my needs for what I am trying to accomplish. I have googled for chat scripts but there are tons out there and its hard to figure out what ones are any good. Instead of me installing everyone and trying them It would be easier to ask people who might have tried some of them before.

Hello there this is my first post on these forums, I believe I am posting this in the correct topic as I figured Programming might be more suited to folks actually writing code.

I plan to make a forum with either phpbb or using joomla if I want more then just forums. Chances are I will use phpbb or something very similar..

I am looking for a free chat script that I can use on my forums for my members. Here is some information about my intentions with these forums. We play a certain strategy game on facebook where chat is pretty vital and facebooks built in chat system is horrible if you are not friends with everyone in the chat. You constantly get asked to fill in captchas almost every message you enter and also I have been having lost of other issues with it lately.

So I figured I would make us forums and our own chat system to use.

I would like something free obviously, and something with different levels of access for instance I could have mods and plain members where mods could kick people from chat etc.. Also I need it to require registration on the forums for people to use it, I can't have random people spying on the chat when we discuss strategy.
Also something that could be popped out into its own window would be nice, anything that would make it easier to use while being in a game on facebook ( maybe even something that had some sort of facebook integration?).

The server I am hosting these forums on is pretty high quality so I have access to everything like mysql, new versions of php, pretty much everything.

If anyone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

If your intention is for one-on-one chats with customers, Skype or Google's RTC. For that matter, simply maintain a room on IRC and take it private when needed.

 

google - shoutbox - it will get public chatroom type thing, on which anyone can talk.
