Suggestions needed old wordpress site to new site

I am in the process of changing my old site to a new site.
The things i am doing are changing theme, adding new plugins and i am also removing posts.
I have like 1000 blog posts and i want to remove lots of posts but i do want that removal of so many post do not hurt my site ranking and in the process i can make my blog cleaner and become more SEO friendly.
What are your suggestion that i should follow in this process ?

 

Just go with it, I think you will not hurt your site... you will just improve it.

 

I do get traffic for old post though, will it be good if i remove them ?
