Hi All......... I am a newbie here and is my first post. I would like to learn to build websites of my own and wanted suggestions/advice where to start to acquire the knowledge. I want to eventually make a living out of it as i am tired of working in IT industry in diff shifts/less pay and etc., etc., Therefore i would really appreciate if someone can guide me where to start off with like from HTML, CSS and other graphic designs programs if required. Consider me as a toddler as i have to start from scratch.. I have set myself a target to have a full fledged website by 31st Dec 2014 and i am also working on the concept to build it for. Thanking in advance... Luv All!!
The easy way is to start with something like Wordpress. Install wordpress on a server or locally, then install some themes and start testing. That's the best thing you can do for enter this bussiness.
That's absolutely not the way you learn how to build websites, You wont learn shit about HTML, CSS nor any king of web programming that way. Here is what I did to get started learning Web Development. I watched a lot of these videos. http://thenewboston.org/list.php?cat=40 https://www.youtube.com/user/phpacademy https://tutsplus.com/ (full courses costs money, but there are a lot of free content ) http://www.w3schools.com/ https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/Guide/HTML/Introduction Some useful software that you might want to have: Notepad++ WampServer If you want to put your websites live, but don't have any money, you can use www.000webhost.com, That is what I used before I started using paid hosting. If you want more help you can PM me or add me on Skype: hackerhelge
Listen to Helge Sverre. You are not going to learn anything using a platform like Wordpress (or any other third party stuff). The best yu will be without first learnng the basic skills is a hack who gets the occasional job and you will never earn enough to live well. Also forget w3scholls except for quick reference because it is generally out of date; suitable for amateurs but not much value if you intend to be doing webdev professionally. The best site in the list is the mozilla developer site and you might also want to add: http://html5please.com/ to keep up with the rapid changes taking place across current technologies used on the web. And please learn how to use the validators: http://validator.w3.org/ for HTML http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/ for CSS . . .
Thank you all for your suggestions. Especially Helge Sverre and COBOLdinosaur for your valuable inputs.. I will start off with these sites suggested.. Also would like to mention that i did check the website http://coboldinosaur.com/pages/scripts.html and the site is very helpful with resources shared. Luv all..
