The health site we manage hasn't been updated in a while, because the authors/website owners are not available much nowadays. We are trying to increase website traffic, which is hard since the site is getting stale. Trying to get decent backlinks is getting hard. Directory submissions seem pointless these days - we have submitted to tons of them but not even yahoo site explorer is picking many of them up. Do you have any suggestions? Link baiting is hard since the content is getting stale. We have a PR of 3.
why don't you set up a corporate blog? If promoted properly it could seriously drive some targeted traffic to your website...
I guess, you are talking about the site in your signature. If yes, than you need to do 2 things 1) To get immediate traffic: build links in forums/signature . From there you will get instance response. You can participate in related forums your self or hire some link builder to do the task for you. Usuall rates are $.10 to %.20 per link in a forum. So overall you need around $20 to $30 depnding on the amount of traffic you need. 2) To make them come back : do some seo and designing on your website. it's good but not very much captivating. Your site needs on page and off page seo to run the long term race.
try social networking sites like stumbleupon. It's actually one of the best one's out there to increase site traffic.
