yfs1, A parlay bet is a bet which the proceeds from one wager are used to pay another i.e. you have bet a hard 8 in craps (double 4's) and your roller(shooter) hits it and you win your 7x1 (iirc) bet, you would then tell the dealer to parlay that bet and it would not be given to you but would stay there until either your roller hits the "point" or he rolls another hard 8 in which case your winnings would now be 49 times your original bet. (i.e. Original bet was a dollar, your first win is $7 and you parlay that, he hits hard 8 again and you win $49) Hope this is what you were looking for.
