Hi, Wanted to pick some brains on how I should position my articles directory and my current thinking . ArticleGold is the directory, currently pretty highly ranked by SEs for Articles Directory - 3rd in Google. Therefore it gets submissions in everyday, actually too much for my liking as alot of the articles is badly written or the same one floating on 100 other Article Directory sites. I havent had much time lately to work on the directory hence the A Dashboard look still but now with the completion of various other development works, I want to start playing. Firstly, I needed an idea to take the directory away from the 4575 on the net. this coupled with the above, has made me think to only accept UNIQUE and QUALITY articles and hopefully build a reputation from there. One of my concerns and I hope you guys can help me out here is .... WHY UNIQUE? I mean most Article Directories are supposed to be for webmasters to copy and paste the article on their site right? Why does the submitted article need to be unique? .... its going to be copied anyways. I'll stop there for now because I want to see your comments before I post my views ...
This may sound too simple but my advice would just be to try and create an article site that is truly useful to the visitors. I think too often we as webmasters get bogged down in trying to please Google. If the visitors are happy, Google should follow.
Whilst I agree with you jackson and that is how I try to build my main sites, such is the nature of the internet now that if you don't play nice with Google, you don't get to play at all. Of course, if your marketing budget is huge, this is not true. But anyways, your view on being useful to visitors ... Who do you think are the visitors of an articles directory?
