Suggestion

    I just came across an obious first poster PayPal scam. I took the info from the post and sent it to the security dept at PayPal. When I went to see if anyone else picked it up I was pleasantly suprised to see it gone already.

    DP mods are so cool.

    A suggestion though, that may have a beneficial impact on the internet.

    This forum is full of knowlegable and proactive internet people. Why not put that resource to good use.

    Flag these posts to be removed after a short period(make sure it is also marked as a scam so no one falls for it) so it will give members time to send information of the malicious activity to the proper authorities. I'm sure sites like PayPal will take notice quicker if a scam is reported by many people.

    This would also work to make DP a spammers "no mans land".

    I admit that I may be a little naive with this suggestion as I wouldn't be suprised if someone here at DP already has the ability to fasttrack the notification of scams to the proper authorities already.

    I'm glad the scam was caught and removed from Digital Point. I would like to see the thread to better understand how you were able to classify it as a scam, but it's gone, so like you said, good work, mods.

    I wonder what PayPal will think when they try to address the fraud claim you submitted and they are not able to find the thread:confused:

    Do you really believe that PayPal listens to our scammer reports more intently if there are several of us complaining on the same issue instead of only one or two of us? I really hate to think this is how they work, because if it is, then they are most likely letting a lot of crap slip through their fingers :(:(:(

    Anyhow, nice work! ++

    I can't say about others, but my complaints to Paypal for eg phishing etc was quickly acted upon and it wont take more than a day or two before these phishers are removed.

    Think of it this way, if it's not left for everyone to see, the scammers can't use it to develop workarounds either.

    When scammers don't know they're busted, they cease to evolve.

    Paypal are actually pretty good when it comes to fraud, perhaps next time you could take a screenshot of a scam thread and the pm containing the paypal info if any, before it gets deleted, that way you still have evidence to show.

    Actually Paypal is no good when the scammer knows exactly what to do.Even there's no scam or alike , sometimes Paypal froze accounts that have transferred high amounts of money.
    My source:
    http://paypalsucks.com/

    I wouldn't recommend anyone that service and if it's a most to use paypal , people should avoid transactions with unverified paypal members.
