First let me say I AM happy with the way it is now, but I was thinking of this the other day.... We all know that sometime in the future, when each category has plenty of websites, there may well be an option to tell which category ads you would like to display on your site. To my knowledge this has not been implemented because there are not enough websites for each category yet, and if it will be implemented now, everybody's add will be displayed a lot less times and therefore will be less effective than at this point. My suggestion, if technically possible, is to let us only select the category for the homepage/base URL. IMO the outgoing links on the homepage/base URL are of the most concern, because they are valued more and create a generally theme of the website. This way the theme of the homepage/base URL corresponds to your website and because the category only applies to the homepage/base URL all other category ads can still be displayed on all inner pages and therefore the network stays large and benefits because of the size still apply. Win/win situation if technically possible. What do you think?
This is going to be a tough call. On one hand you have the benefit of providing more links for everyone at lower level pages a nobel thing to do. On the other hand you have destroyed everything we know about themed sites and themed links. The cusp of the argument rests on the assumption that 'something' on the root page of your website decides the theme of your website and not sure if this is true and how long it would be. But consider this if a site has a lot of pages and there are few persons competing in the theme I am assuming you benefit because you own a larger percentage of the links back to your site. Besides the simplest way for you/I to distribute our links is simply spread your ad(link) over the entire spectrum of the co-op themes ... so really we already have all the control we need and for that reason I suggest we keep it as it is.
My fault, wasn't clear enough... My suggestion is of a temporary nature, if and when there are enough sites in the co-op to justify themes, go for the complete packages offcourse! But in the meantime, because there is no way of telling WHEN the themed links are going to be put in place( think I read about it in december last year for the first time) it might be a good settlement in between the fase we are in now and later on.
