    Hi all,

I really do hope i dont get banned for this and im not complaining about the infractions i got as it was my fault. I got two for the same post. For bumping thread and running up post count. As you can see ive been a member since 07.. with only 60 post's.. Im not interested in bumping up post counts

I followed a link directly from google regarding sales letters, in the infraction it said the user was no longer registered and the thread was from 2007

Maybe a script to close threads after a certain age?
I didn't check the date of the thread or anything like that. He did say to post within the thread or to pm him.. I just choose the first option. Asking for his paypal address as many times in the past pm's went ignored

My basic point of this thread is to suggest a script (thats available from vbulletin.org) to close threads after a certian time of inactivity or when a user is removed. That way there is less of a chance of people like me from "bumping" it as you say which increase's the work load of the forum moderators

Edit: Just read the infraction rules, this thread may come accross as a whinge but its the way i like to explain things.. in full
Its definatly not a whinge.. a legit suggestion

Relevancy of threads is not necessarily a function of time. For this reason we leave the onus of thread closure on the thread starter. We request thread starter make a bad post report to request thread closure.

No post can receive more than one infraction. If you check your profile you will see you have a bumping infraction for a particular post and a profile infraction for posts that fall under the umbrella of Running Up Post Count/Post Has No Value. Several of your post padding posts were deleted.

It also doesn't matter if the OP tells you to post in the thread - you must PM them if you're interested unless you're asking questions not already asked or answered and that have value for everyone. Those types of bumps are eligible for an immediate 7-day ban (please see the BST announcement), so you actually got off easy.

As Shannon said, closing things automatically isn't an option. Many threads are relevant for quite some time, and automatic closures would lead to more duplicate threads being posted.
