Suggestion: Punishment Appeals Process

I have seen quite a bit of complaining on this forum about receiving undue penalties and now I feel that I myself have been on the receiving end of one. What disgruntles me the most about this situation is that there seems to be no method of appealing the punishment. First off, the user is not notified of the staff member who inflicted the infraction or the ban. Staff should take more responsibility for their actions and be held accountable for them. This would prohibit staff from free-wielding their powers unwarrantedly but also allow confused users like myself to attempt to discuss the reasoning behind the penalty with the person who was responsible for inflicting it.

In addition to disclosing the user who decided to inflict the punishment, I think there should also be an avenue in which to report suspected abuse of powers. How would the other staff here know if someone was banned maliciously or for other reasoning that isn't within the rules? It doesn't seem like they would as the person in question would already be gone. Is there some sort of check on these actions?

This isn't a complaint about an infraction, it is a suggestion for an infraction appeals process so linking me to that sticky seems irrelevant and off-topic. The very fact that sticky even exists further rams home the point that an appeals process needs to be created if so many people are posting their complaints in this board.

Do the math. With 63,945 active members & around 20 mods, we do not have time to hold hands. I have responded to your PM, and responded to you in two threads regarding your infraction. Playing judge and jury is out of the question. We have a FAQ, announcements and stickies to help guide members.

What it actually means is that people need to stop whining like children and READ THE DAMNED RULES AND STICKIES!!! It's spelled out for you if you just read - "PM sent," "PM me," "interested," and related posts are simply NOT ALLOWED! Get over it already.
